Perform regular water changes to prevent the build-up of harmful toxins like ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates.
Keep the middle and top levels open for swimming. Plant hardy species like Anubias or Java Fern along the periphery, and use river gravel, smooth rocks, and minimal driftwood.
High-quality tropical flakes, granules, or micro pellets. Supplement 2–3 times a week with live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia. Offer occasional vegetable flakes or spirulina flakes to balance their digestion.
Always maintain a group of at least 6 to 8 individuals. Keeping them in tiny numbers causes extreme stress and fin-nipping behaviours. Compatible Companions include Medium-to-large community fish such as Rainbowfish, Barbs, Gouramis, peaceful Cichlids, and bottom-dwelling Loaches or Corydoras. Do not house them with very small fish (like Neon Tetras or Guppies) because Giant Danios have large mouths and will swallow anything that fits. Avoid slow-moving, long-finned fish like Bettas or Angelfish, which will be easily stressed or outcompeted for food by the hyperactive Danios.
